In order to properly kick-off the Year of the Chicago Cultural Mile, Cultural Commissioner Michelle Boone hosted a gathering of all of the key stakeholders of the CCM. The meeting included city officials, building owners and senior executives of the major institutions, universities, restaurants and other businesses.
Bronze Signs Earlier this year, the city officially recognized the stretch of Michigan Avenue between the Chicago River and Roosevelt Road as the CHICAGO CULTURAL MILE by installing bronze signs in the median planters at Michigan Avenue and Wacker and Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt. This historic event prompted the declaration of 2014 as the Year of the Chicago Cultural Mile.
Flags In the Summer of 2014, the CCMA commissioned Chicago Cultural Mile flags that now adorn many of the buildings along the Avenue including: Metropolitan Towers, the Chicago Club, the Hilton Hotel and the 200 S. Michigan Avenue Building.
